Collection: B&B Plants

B&B stands for “Balled and Burlapped.” These plants are grown in the ground at the nursery rather than in containers. When they are ready for sale, they are carefully dug with a substantial ball of soil surrounding the root system. The root ball is then wrapped in burlap and typically secured with twine and/or a wire basket to protect the roots during handling, transportation, and planting.

B&B is commonly used for larger trees, shrubs, evergreens, and specimen plants that have been field-grown for several years. Because these plants are grown naturally in the soil, B&B production allows nurseries to offer established plants in sizes that may be impractical to grow in traditional containers.
