What is a Annual and a Perennial

Annuals - Plants that perform their entire life cycle from seed to flower to seed within a single growing season. All roots, stems and leaves of the plant die annually. Only the dormant seed bridges the gap between one generation and the next.

Perennials - Plants that persist for many growing seasons. Generally the top portion of the plant dies back each winter and regrows the following spring

Biennials - Plants which require two years to complete their life cycle.

Annual/Perennial - A plant can behave as an annual or a perennial depending on local climatic and geographic growing conditions. In the southern portion of the United States, these plants tend to grow much quicker than in the north due to the warmer weather and extended growing season.

What is the proper way to plant my Plant?

You can find the plant's care needs on the tag included on the plant. Pick the best location for your plant to thrive.First, make a hole slightly larger than the pot your plant is currently living in. Then, remove your plant from its pot, slightly disturb the roots, and place your plant in the hole. Finally, make sure the soil line is even with ground level, fill in the hole, press the soil down and water.

My Deer resistant plant was eaten by deer

Even “resistant” varieties can be vulnerable in the first few weeks after planting, when their leaf tissue is especially nitrogen-rich. If you have major deer problems, we recommend spraying new plants with a deer-repellent for 3 to 4 weeks after planting to prevent them from being nibbled on and damaged. Even if they are feasted on, as long as the root systems of the plants are not damaged, the plants should survive.

What does Deciduous mean?

A deciduous tree or shrub is one which sheds its leaves seasonally. This occurs at different times of the year depending on where you are in the world: areas with temperate climates will usually see leaf loss on deciduous trees in autumn and winter, while tropical climates are likely to experience this during their dry season.

What does Dormant mean ?

For plants, dormancy declares when to prepare their soft tissues for freezing temperatures, dry weather, or water and nutrient shortage. Instead of exerting energy in an attempt to grow, they know to stop growing and conserve energy until mild weather returns. This period of arrested growth allows roots to continue developing and thriving.
